Rebecca’s reputation travels before her and she is regularly invited to deliver talks and inspire young people at schools across Britain and overseas. She inspires young people again and again (and often their parents, too) to climb ‘their Everests’. She has two children herself, one at primary and one at secondary school, and understands well the issues that young people face today.
Her enduring message is to listen to your inner voice and be true to yourself. Choose subjects you love, set your goals high, and don’t be put off by seemingly long periods of study or if your chosen path seems a bit risky. Be confident in the choices you make for yourself, and if you don’t know what it is you want to do, don’t fret. You’re far from being alone. Stick to the subjects you love and in time all will become clear. And finally, do your best. You can’t do more than your best, and with this knowledge you’ll find contentment, and with contentment, a generosity of spirit that will allow you to enjoy the success of others as much as your own.
Rebecca is commonly invited for Speech Days, typically to deliver a short talk and present prizes. But she enjoys spending more time with the young people and is equally happy to talk at length on her climbing exploits and expeditions around the world, as well as the history of mountaineering and on the legendary expeditions of Sir Ernest Shackleton.
